ABOUT ME

Writer - Director - Videographer

My name is Morgan Mackerness, I'm a versatile filmmaker and videographer, who's very passionate about storytelling told through the beautiful art form of film, and I have so many stories and ideas in my head that I'm just burning to tell.

I studied Creative Media at college for 3 years, and it was there that I decided that I wanted to pursue in becoming a writer and director. From there, I was creating short-films and I was figuring out my footing as a filmmaker. I've just finished studying Film Production at the University of Gloucestershire, and I'm based in Manchester.

During the first year of Uni, I shot two student film projects as a cinematographer, During second year, I directed a documentary titled 'Archive of Life' about film reel preservation in the White Bus Cinema based in Southend-on-Sea, that successfully premiered at Southend Film Festival 2024.

In my final year, I did sound mixing for a war film titled 'Stare'. I implemented a lot of practical resources and effects, in a 5.1 surround sound mix.

Finally, I produced a documentary titled 'Dear Nobhead,' that told the story of one of my best friends' (M.J Connor) mental health condition MADD (Mixed Anxiety and Depressive Disorder), and their relationship with their Dad, thanking him for everything he's done to support them.

I also do freelance videography on the side for clients who ask me to promote their work/business on their social media pages. Such as short-adverts, gig videos, and short-films.

My philosophy in my work is create something that truly feels authentic and honest, and I hope that my work feels inspiring to others who dream to be the next generation of filmmakers.
